The Andrea Gail was no beauty queen. She was a fishing boat, plain and tough, chasing swordfish off the edge of the Grand Banks. In the fall of 1991, she sailed into a storm so massive, so merciless, that it would be remembered by anyone who ever stepped onto a deck and felt the weight of the ocean pressing back. It's referred to as the “Perfect Storm” by meteorologists and made famous by Sebastian Junger’s book (the book was later turned into a Hollywood movie).
This 1:30 scale model kit by Billing Boats captures more than the lines of the Andrea Gail — it captures the story. The hard work, the risk, the silence before the storm. Building it isn’t just a pastime — it’s a quiet act of respect.
