Some boats look fast even when they’re standing still.

The 1949 Chris-Craft 19-foot Racing Runabout is one of them—and Dumas recreates it at an imposing 1:8 scale, finishing 28 inches long.

Build the wood-framed hull, apply the expanded-PVC skin, and finish it with genuine mahogany veneer. Add the chrome-plated fittings, curved windshield, cockpit details, flag, and burgee.

The result is a substantial display model with the unmistakable shine and sweeping lines of a classic American runabout. And because the complete running hardware is included, it can also be converted for R/C operation with separately purchased electronics.

Mahogany. Chrome. Speed.

The Chris-Craft That Looks Fast Standing Still

The original 1949 Chris-Craft Racing Runabout was built during the golden age of American pleasure boating—when polished mahogany, gleaming chrome, and large engines were considered perfectly reasonable forms of recreation.

Its bullnose bow, dramatically raked foredeck, low cockpit, and sweeping sheer gave the 19-foot racer an unmistakable profile. It was elegant, expensive, and built to move.

Dumas Kit #1249 captures those lines in a model large enough to do them justice.

At 28 inches long and 9 inches across the beam, this is no small decorative boat destined to disappear between two books. It has presence.

Display It—or Take It to the Water

The kit includes the propeller shaft, stuffing box, strut, rudder, and other running hardware required for an operating model.

Build it as an impressive static showpiece for your office, den, or workshop—or add your preferred motor, radio system, speed controller, battery, and servo to convert it for R/C operation.

Either way, you get the same sweeping Chris-Craft profile, mahogany finish, and chrome hardware.

Why Builders Love This Kit

Commanding 1:8 scale: The completed model measures 28 inches long, giving the hull’s distinctive curves room to make an impression.

Genuine mahogany finish: Mahogany veneer creates the grain, warmth, and deep polished appearance associated with classic Chris-Craft boats.

Wood-framed construction: Build the hull structure rather than merely assembling a molded shell.

Chrome-plated fittings: Cast-metal deck hardware provides the bright detailing these boats demand.

Complete running hardware: The driveline components needed for an operating model are supplied in the kit.

Static or R/C: Build an heirloom-quality display model or equip it for operation with separately purchased electronics.

Authentic period details: Includes the curved windshield, cockpit coaming, Chris-Craft markings, flag, and burgee.
