The Mamoli MV53 (often cataloged as MV53 or MV55) is a masterful recreation of the most feared commerce raider of the American Civil War. Built in secrecy by John Laird Sons & Co. in Liverpool, the CSS Alabama was a sophisticated "screw sloop-of-war" that combined the speed of steam with the endurance of sail.

This 1:120 scale kit is designed for the experienced modeler, offering a complex build that captures the unique silhouette of a 19th-century hybrid warship.

Basswood offers excellent workability and is ideal for shaping, sanding, and finishing. In the original Mamoli designs, many of the European woods were later stained, conditioned, or painted with solid colors, making Basswood a suitable and reliable substitute.
