The Heller Citroën 15 Six Traction Avant is an extraordinary 1:8 scale model kit consisting of 1,054 parts. You build it system by system—from the detailed six-cylinder engine and front-wheel-drive mechanism to the suspension, interior, opening body panels, and unmistakably French bodywork.

When completed, it measures an imposing 23.4 inches long.

It does not politely occupy shelf space. It annexes it.

A Landmark Automobile, Built from the Inside Out

Introduced in 1934, the Citroën Traction Avant helped change the way modern automobiles were designed. Its combination of front-wheel drive, unitary body construction, independent suspension, and hydraulic brakes was remarkably advanced for its time.

The prestigious 15 Six arrived in 1938 with a smooth and powerful 2.9-liter inline-six engine. Its performance, comfort, and road manners soon earned it the French nickname “La Reine de la Route”—the Queen of the Road.

Heller’s monumental kit gives you considerably more than the car’s famous silhouette. It lets you explore the engineering beneath it.

The Engine Is Practically a Model of Its Own

Construction begins with a highly detailed multi-part reproduction of the 2,867cc inline-six engine.

The block, cylinder head, manifolds, carburetor, cooling components, ignition system, and accessories are assembled individually before being connected to the model’s detailed front-wheel-drive transaxle.

Fuel lines, brake lines, wiring, steering components, suspension assemblies, and drivetrain details continue throughout the chassis.

The 1,054 parts are not there simply to make the number on the box look expensive. They are there because Heller modeled an astonishing amount of the actual car.

Detailed Inside and Out

The passenger compartment receives the same attention as the mechanical components, with separately assembled seats, dashboard instrumentation, controls, pedals, steering column, door panels, interior trim, and other period details.

Once the body is installed, the model retains access to much of that work through its:
