This triptych is a collaboration between Utagawa Kusisada (also called Toyokuni III) and Utagawa Hiroshige. It is typical of Ukiyo-e, a Japanese movement of the 19th century. These three engravings represent a scene from The Tale of Genji, a classic of Japanese literature. Kunisada is the author of the characters and the snow bunny, Hiroshige is the originator of the background landscape.
