Description
This is a 1/225 scale model of the H.M.S. Victory - Revell 05408. H.M.S. Victory was laid down in 1759 and commissioned in 1765 as a first-rate ship of the line with 104 cannons on board. She was made famous for her role as Lord Horatio Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805. Victory had a very active career as the flagship of Adm. Augustus Keppel at the Battle of Ushant, the flagship of Adm. Richard Howe at Cape Spartel, and the flagship of Sir John Jervis at Cape St Vincent. She became redesignated as a troopship ship in 1810 and ultimately the Port Admiral's flagship of Portsmouth Harbour after 1824.
She was drydocked at Portsmouth in 1922 and kept as a museum ship. Since 2012, she has been the First Sea Lord's flagship. As such she is the oldest naval ship in the world currently in commission, with 242 years of active service as of 2020. The kit contains 269 parts and the finished model is 400 mm long.
